Iran earmarks $1b for provision of essential goods
Tehran – The Iranian minister of agriculture said that his Ministry has earmarked $1 billion to purchase basic goods.
“Through the government’s support and in cooperation with the Planning and Budget Organization as well as the Central Bank, $1 billion have been allocated to purchase and import essential goods. So far more than $400 million have been operationalized,” Gholamreza Nouri said on Thursday.
Noting that there is no problem with the provision of people’s basic needs, and everything is proceeding as usual, the minister said the provision of essential goods is being done smoothly particularly in Tehran and Mazandaran.
Minister Nouri further referred to a recent speech by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei regarding compassion and empathy and said, “We can manage the situation through unity, and harmony.”
I would like to extend my thanks to the noble people of Iran, farmers, village dwellers, producers, and suppliers of basic foods, the minister concluded.
